Changing to GC EAD from H1 and H4 EAD while 485 is pending

My Full time employment on H1B ended Jan 31st and I believe I have till March 31st (This month end, 60 days)  to get a job and have H1 transfer applied if I want to remain on h1.
 
If I want to change to my GC EAD what do I need to do (Applications etc)? My wife is also on H4 EAD. What does she have to do too to change to GC EAD? And How long can I remain unemployed and not have my wife's and my status affected? I am yet to find a job.
