PokerFace Posted December 5, 2023 Report Share Posted December 5, 2023 (edited) I got laid off a few weeks ago. I am 30 days into my grace period. My passport expires in less than 6 months and I want to do a tatkal application to renew the passport, so that I am ready for the visa transfer when I find another job. Can I use my last employer's i797(valid through 2025, obv not valid anymore since I got laid off) as "copy of the valid status in the USA" document? Has anybody done this? I am not sure how deep Indian consulate goes into checking the validity of the visa documents. I would be submitting the application to Indian consulate in SF Thanks for your help!
