chaitanya uppuluri
Hi, I am a student on Opt. My initial OPT EAD was expiring on june 15th. I submitted my application for stem OPT extension EAD to USCIS late, i.e., on June 16th, but I received my receipt notice. I haven't received my case decision yet and my case is still under review. I verified my processing time in USCIS tools and it shows 'if you have any questions please contact after October 15 2023. Am I currently considered out of status? Or since I received my Receipt notice and I would have 90 day grace period, would I go out of status after September 15 2023? Quote Link to comment
Attorney_14
If an individual submits a late filed STEM extension, they should not rely on the 180 day extension as the STEM Extension could be denied. In order to receive a detailed analysis of your case, it would be a good idea to schedule a consult with one of our attorneys. Quote Link to comment
