F2 to F1 visa conversion rejected

My Wife is currently on an F2 visa, and unfortunately, her recent attempt to convert to an F1 visa was rejected. I would like to know if it's possible to study part-time on the F2 visa and if there are any potential issues.

Also, I am curious to learn if she can change to an F1 visa while in the United States without leaving the country and would it arise any issues for F1 conversion if she studies part-time in the meantime.

Any insights or advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

A person in F-2 status can enroll in an academic program of study on a part-time basis. They should also be able to apply for change of status to F-1 while in the U.S. if they want to study full-time.
