Good news for Dream Act folks

Based on these news articles, it appears that illegal immigrants who are eligible can be legalized. Snapshot from that article...

"Homeland Security will begin reviewing all 300,000 backlogged deportation cases, according to Durbin's office.

Attorneys for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement will individually review every case scheduled for a hearing in the next few months.

Identified cases will be closed "except in extraordinary circumstances," which will require approval to proceed.

Individuals whose cases are closed will be eligible to apply for immigration benefits such as work authorization."

What about legal people already in the US? They do not have work permit. Will they issue work permit for following law of the land?

Actually, pernalguy, your daughter who is aging out, will very likely qualify for work permit under this program. Of course, there needs to be a deportation case opened and then closed for her before she gets an EAD.

Latino community has the numbers, lobbyists and most importantly the votes. Every politician wants to be re-elected. Over the past few weeks and months if you read the news it was all about protests and newspaper articles from latinos letting Obama know how they felt. Plus, the administration wants to stop deportation of people who came here as kids, which is the right thing to do.
