H1b(approved I140 with PD 2016) to H4 conversion

I am on H1b and have approved I140 with priority date 2016. I recently got laid off so I am thinking of converting to H4 dependent as I am unable to find any company to transfer my H1b. My question is what will happen to my I140 if I convert to H4 and will the company has the right to revoke my approved I140? Also if I move back to H1b from H4 in future can I use the same I140 priority date?

Hello,

 

The sponsoring employer generally has up to 180 days to revoke an approved I-140. However, the I-140 is not tied to your H status and will not necessarily be affected by whether you choose to be on H1B or H4.
