H4 holder- Abandonment

My husband who is the H1B holder  has abandoned his responsibilities towards my child and myself. We came here in 2022 in hopes for me to pursue my graduate studies. Mid 2022 he stopped paying for my school claiming it's expensive and also has been hesitant about our child continuing private school and has been refusing to make payments to the school unless forced too.Including blocking cards, accounts and making it difficult for us to operate.  We currently live separately due to the distance of his work and our schools, he has also threatened to not support our basic needs and also threatens that he has the power make us lose status by either denying us a chance to apply for the green card or threatens to leave the country. I consulted an immigration lawyer who was not helpful at all! I also consulted a family lawyer who told me that there's a chance of losing my status and opportunities if I choose the divorce route. Any advise?
