MurthyUser454
Hello everyone, I got my GC in June and came to my home country(family medical emergency) and staying here for the last 5 months. I am planning to go back just before the end of 6 months. I need to stay here for an another month(around 7 months) and I need to understand if there will be any adverse consequences. Official USCIS website says I can stay up to 1 year outside of US without any issues but a lot of articles, friends’ opinions/suggestions and forums say it’s 6 months. Even our company lawyer said it’s not recommended to stay beyond 6 months. Can someone please tell me what is the correct timeframe? First hand experiences and accurate responses please 🙏🏽🙏🏽 Thank you!! Quote Link to comment
Attorney_15
If someone is outside the US for more than 6 months the CBP can question whether the person has abandoned their permanent residence. Quote Link to comment
