Allowed to File I-765 for OPT while AOS (I-485) EAD is in progress ?

To whom it may concern, 

Hope you are doing well. My Spouse Niveditha filed my EAD (I-765) along with Adjustment of status (I-485) application in July 2022 and completed fingerprinting for the same at the Detroit field office on August 10th 2022. I reviewed the processing time for I-765 at (https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/). The processing time shown for my case is 8.5 months. 

She will be graduating from college in a month, and her I-20 will be expiring in the same timeframe. Not having an EAD for several months after finishing college will prevent her from pursuing job opportunities, as all employers require work authorization prior to providing an offer. Therefore, I wanted to know if its possible to file I-765 for OPT through the university while the EAD linked with my adjustment of status application (I-485) is in progress. Would this result in any subsequent processing delays ?
