Administrative processing timeline for a J1 Visa

Recommended Posts

My wife recently attended an interview for a J1 Visa at the consulate in Singapore. Her interview was completed in less than 5 minutes and she was given her passport back, along with a 221(g) Yellow slip requesting her to submit some additional documentation (her research proposal, work itinerary and her PhD advisor's resume) online. I was wondering if anyone else had similar experiences for a J1 visa? I understand that the time taken for administrative processing is highly variable ( I had one myself for a H1B, though I was lucky to get it through in 2 days), but I wanted to get an idea about the typical wait times that people are facing/have faced.

Interview on 10th May

The documents requested by the embassy were uploaded on the same night.

I guess it is probably too early to start getting stressed out about this, but knowing some statistics would at least help us have a realistic expectation.
