JKuttan Posted July 2, 2021 Report Posted July 2, 2021 Hello All, Myself and my wife are Green Card holders in US. We would like to adopt an Orphan Child from India. We are working through the adoption details process in India. How does the process look to bring the child over to the US ? Any points in this regard would be highly appreciated Thanks, JKuttan Quote
JoeF Posted July 5, 2021 Report Posted July 5, 2021 (edited) Not possible for Permanent Residents. You would have to live with the child abroad for 2 years before the child could get an immigrant visa. As an LPR you have to live in the US, though. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/Intercountry-Adoption/Adoption-Process/before-you-adopt/adoption-by-non-us-citizens-living-in-us.html Why not adopt an American orphan?
