H1b travel 2 months before h1b expires

Hi,

Am planning to travel to India in June. My current H1b expires in August. Is it safe to travel in June. I am planning to come back to USA in august or sept. 

Can I go for stamping with approved H1b in July or August though it starts in September. When is best time to travel back to USA.

I am in the same situation. No H-1b stamping yet, extension approved starting from August.

My attorney suggested using my old petition for the interview since I am planning to return before starting of new i797 dates. Please share here if you have more details.
