h4 Extension from India

Hi,

If I get the h1b Extension, can I apply for h4 extension or h4 stamping from India? Since it is taking more than one year to get h4 extension from US, is there a way I can get it from India? We need to apply for EAD once h4 extension is done, else the whole process will take two years. What are my options?

You can apply from anywhere it does not make a difference unless you're going for stamping at which point nationality & eligibility comes into play if the applicant can be accepted for a personal interview at that embassy/consulate. Your documents will be reviewed by USCIS and decision is based on your application, only difference will be present location, in your case it will be India as correspondence address since you're residing/available there at the time of application.

You can simply go for H4 stamping directly when you are in India, not required to apply for H4 Extension.  And after coming back to US, you can apply for H4 EAD.
