askingQRubic
Hi, Both, me and my wife are currently LPR ( Green-Card ) and we're expecting a child in the next couple of months. Does my to be born child become eligible for US Citizenship by birth in USA? If yes, What is the procedure to get their US Citizenship and passport? Are there any pre-requisites before that is applied for them - such as, applying to first become a LPR ? Do I need an immigration lawyer to file for this or I can self file? Thanks for your help Quote Link to comment
JoeF
Every child born in the US (except children of diplomats) is automatically a US citizen by birth. You get the birth certificate that shows the child born in the US, and with that you can apply for a US passport for the child. That's all there is to it.
