First time H1-B to H4 EAD

Hi,

I was on H1-B and got furloughed on July 31, 2020. This is my first time filing for H4 and the application is still in process. Since my husband's H1-B extension was also in progress, I waited until he got his approval to file for EAD. His approval came through recently. My question is:

1. Can I file for EAD while my H4 application is still in progress?
2. While filling out the I765 form, what would be my current immigration status for Question 25? As my current immigration status is not H1-B (expired Sept 1, 2020 and H4 application still in progress)
