Cogito7 Posted May 12, 2020 Report Share Posted May 12, 2020 Hi Everyone, My wife, I and my 11 year old son are all Green card holders (My 4 year old daughter was born in the US and hence she is a Citizen here). We have been green card holders for 3 years now. When we complete the 5 year period as green card holders (2 years from now), is it possible for us to apply for a citizenship only for my son (He will be 13 years old then), while we remain on our green cards? JoeF Posted May 13, 2020 Report Share Posted May 13, 2020 No. At least one parent has to become a US citizen for the minor child to get citizenship. Of course, once the child is an adult the child can get US citizenship. Quote Link to comment
