I-140 Portability

Hi,

I came to US in 2006 and my employer field the green card with priority date of 7 Dec 2006. In feb I applied H4 visa for my wife and USCIS started review my H1B extension as they have a doubt that my employer is acting as an agent as there were two layers between my end client and my employer.

Just to be on safe side, I did change my employer and shifted to branded company and started working for them from 1st July 2010.

My green card priority date becomes current but my employer is not filing for I-485, my question here is as I have already I-140 approved, can i carry forward my priority date if my new employer starts the green card process. Also, do I need the copy of I-140 approval? What will happen if my employer revoke my I-140, can I still use my old priority date? I do have the automated email from DHS which I received after my I-140 approval.

Please advice, I shall be really thankful to you.
