H1 extension approved but Approval returned to USCIS

Context:

  • H1 extension approved but original I-797 returned to USCIS as USPS could not deliver it to Attorney's office (reason unknown yet).
  • Courtesy H1 approval letter (withOUT I-94) received, also original H4 approval (with I-94) received, both show petition approved until year 2020.
  • I 94 expired, 180 days past now, but courtesy H1 approval letter received before 180 days had past.

Action Taken So far:

  • Attorney submitted online request to contact USCIS and waiting for USCIS to respond.

Questions:

  • Will USCIS resend 797? If yes, how long it could take? 
  • SAVE case opened at DMV to renew license, what are the chances they might extend license?
