F1 Status Conversion - SEVIS Expiration

I have a question regarding my Sevis expiration and F1 status conversion and hope this forum help me clear this question.

 

I have entered United States on a H4 Visa and recently got an admit into a university. Before the start date of course I have applied for my status change from H4 to F1. Current processing times for this Status conversion is around 13 months based on USCIS processing schedule.

 

As per my college graduate admission coordinator, my sevis will expire within 60 days after my admission as my status change is still under process,and to keep the sevis active, the alternative suggested was to have a new start date on i-20. I need advice in this aspect, as change in start date of I-20 can affect my duration of course. Can you please help me answer the questions below for a better understanding.

 

1. Will change in start date of I-20 affect my future status as change in start date would result in lesser active days of course work

2. Can sevis be extended on H4 status?
