R2 Extension applied, do we need to travel back to India with Kids, Request for help

I got R1 Extension Approved until April 2019.  Now I am planning to apply R2 extension for my wife & Kids.

My wife & kids are here in USA with me and they have Visa until 30 April 2018. 

We applied extension this week (waiting for Receipt).  Please let me know if they can stay in USA after 30 April 2018 and wait for Visa Approval. 

Please advice, so we can plan accordingly as Kids are going to School. Your recommendation is highly helpful for me to take next steps.  Thanks in advance ...
