rtippabhotla Posted November 8, 2017 Report Posted November 8, 2017 Hi, I am currently on L1B visa and the 5 year period is ending in April 2018. My husband in on H1B visa and so my H4 COS and H4 EAD were applied together in August 2017. The effective start date of H4 was mentioned as Feb 15th 2018 on I-539. We have put a future start date for H4 to eliminate the chance of having a gap in employment (in case H4 COS gets approved first and getting EAD is delayed). This morning I got an update from USCIS that the H4 EAD card is in production and will be mailed to me shortly. But there is no update yet on the H4 COS. My questions are - 1) If H4 COS + EAD are both approved now, will my H4 effective start date still be Feb 15th 2018 ? or will it be backdated to current approval time ? 2) In case USCIS doesn't backdate the effective start date, can I do international travel and come back to US before Feb 2018, on L1B status ? 3) Do I need H4 stamp on my passport to continue working on EAD ? Thanks. (reply) (edit)
