H1-B portability question

Hello,

I have a question retarding the H1-B portability issue. I'm currently working for Employer A under H1-B, which expires at Step. 11 this year, as well as my I-94. My employer has already filed I-129 for a 3 year extension (receipt received, but pending approval). Now it comes to a point where my employment has to end by Dec. 31 this year. 

My question is if I find a new employer (B), do they have to file the new application for extension before the 9/11 expiration data? What will happen if they file it after my I-94 expired and before my current extension application gets approved?

in my opinion it is OK to file after 09/11 too.  Also you have 60 days grace period to find a new job even after your contract with current employer expires on Dec 31.
