Does Duration of Stay count when you are on L2/H4/H1

Hi,

I know we can stay on H1-B for a max of 6 years in US and L1 for 5 years. But I got little confused with my situation here.

My Wife came to US in March 2012 on L2, Continued on L2 until May 2013, Later she went to Canada for 10 months and came back on H4 (Feb 2014). She starting working in US with her new H1-B starting Oct 2014. I want to know if her stay in USA on Visas L2/H4 is considered when we count for maximum stay in US.
