240 Days Rule for Dependents

Hi Team

I am working in IT field. I have applied for H1B extension for me and H4 extension for  my son together in the month of April 2016.

I got H1B approval in the month of June itself till Oct -2018. But still my sons dependent visa is in Progress for past 6 months.

People are telling , we can stay  only for 240 days with the receipt number. after 240 days we may need to leave out of US .

IS this rule is applicable for H4 dependents also? Since I have valid visa can my son stay with the receipt number?

Not sure about  the Processing time of his request.

As long as the Primary Applicants(H1) visa is valid H4 can stay here(Since you have filed for extention).
