H4 EAD start date

Hi All,

I am in the 6th year of H1B and got 140 approved. Me and my wife's current visas( H1B and H4) are expiring in May-2017. I am planning file H1B extension+H4 extension + H4 EAD together in premium processing in next couple of weeks. I would like know what would be start date of my wife's EAD. Would  start date be 3 years from EAD is approved or 3 years from May 2017 ? Your input is greatly appreciated.Thanks!

EAD start date would be immediate and expiry would match your H-1B validity expiry.

Thanks for the reply. Does that mean that EAD period will have start date 01/01/2017(just assuming EAD is approved on 01/01/17) and end date 05/2020? Can EAD period be longer than 3 year?

Yes. It can be longer than 3 years.
