I90 form

Hi I received my FIRST new green card 2 weeks ago. My country of birth was wrong. I was told to fill up a i90 form to replace my green card with error. I made an info pass appointment and visited my local usics office yesterday and the lady in the office told me to send my i90 form by mail and I can still use the green card with the error until I get the new green card. However, when I read the usics website and when I called the usics national number they told me I had to hand in my green card together with the i90 form in mail. That was the process for green card that had a wrong information. Anyone has idea if I have to send in my green card with the i90 form in mail or should I hand in my green card only after I receive the new Correct green card? Since, it will take some time to get the new card and I have 9 months left in My current i551 visa should I go and renew my i551 visa? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
