pontevecchio
Irrespective of the Drop Box, you cannot enter the country without a H4 visa. Please take the time to read the instructions in the consulate website. Link to comment
ashuneel
The employer should apply for H4 extension at the same time as H1. Link to comment
pingpong
This only applies if H4 dependent is in states. If you are outside the country please approach your nearest consulate and apply for H4. Your spouse/parent need to be holding a valid H1 status( approved I-129) at the time. The employer should apply for H4 extension at the same time as H1. Link to comment
JoeF
The employer should apply for H4 extension at the same time as H1. An H4 is not really the responsibility of the employer. Further, there is a difference between an H4 petition and an H4 visa. If the dependent is abroad, the dependent needs an H4 visa to enter the US, which the person has to apply for at a consulate, and that requires a valid H1 petition from the primary person.
