GC expires in 3 months, is it too late to apply for Citizenship?

Good day Members!

My GC expires in mid-July (approximately 90 days left). Is it too late to apply for US Citizenship ? If the Citizenship application is being processed when the GC expires, does it require you to discontinue employment until the (citizenship) application is approved ? Kindly advise.

The card may expire. But your Permanent Residency does not. The usual guidance is to renew the GC if it is expiring less than 6 months from now if you will apply for Citizenship. Please also note that the Naturalization Process takes months and as a GC holder you are supposed to carry the GC and have it available if needed by law enforcement for example.

Even when the GC expires, your status as Permanent Resident does not.

You should get the GC renewed.
