H1B Visa Eligibility

Hi,

 

One of my friend did three year bachelors degree in India, he doesn't have masters but has 3 - 4 years of software experience. CUrrently he is working in INDIA, Is he eligible for H1B visa?

No your "Friend" is not eligible for H1.

All responses above are incorrect.   It is true that you need a 4 year Bachelor for H1  but  ,  each year of shortfall can be covered by 3 year of experience as long as Education and experience are in related field.

4 years of experience can be used along with the 3 Year Bachelors as far as H1 is concerned to make it 4 years. Obviously not true for Employment based Immigration.

The rule is that each 3 years of relevant experience in the field of study can be used to replace 1 year missing towards the degree. So, 12 years experience would be needed if the person never finished one year of college.

This applies to the H1 only.

For employment-based immigration, there is EB3-Other, which allows for less than 4 years of college, but it is rather hard to get because the pool of Americans qualified for the job is of course larger than, say, if the job requires a 4-year bachelor degree or even an advanced degree.
