H1-B visa holder getting married to a U.S. Citizen

HI All,

This is my first time posting to this site, any help/insight is appreciated.

I'm currently on my H1-B Status valid till Dec 2013, living the US. I haven't traveled to my home country (India) since my student life (F1 Visa).Im planning to make a trip now to India to get my first H1-B stamping.

Im also getting married to an American citizen and the wedding is going to be in India in 2012. I would like to know what all forms i need to fill out and do i need a lawyer to apply for my Green Card after marriage? Also is there any paperwork that i need to do before my marriage and travel to India?

As long as you return in H1 status and remain in H1 status till your Marriage you would need to file I-130/EAD/AP/AOS. A lawyer may help though it is not so difficult. Look at the USCIS site for Immigration by Marriage to an USC.
