How to get an ITIN number for my wife-- married this year.

Hi,

I got married this year 2011. I am trying to get an Health Insurance for my wife who has just arrived. All insurance companies over here in California are asking for SSN or TIN number.

As my wife is on H4, she is not eligible for SSN and for filing an ITIN application, this years tax returns are required along with W7 form, as I was individual last year, I cannot submit my 2010 tax returns along with the W7 application.

Please advise, how to get her an TIN number.

Since you are single last year (2010) your filing status should be single. When it is time to file 2011 returns submit form W7 for your spouse along with the return for ITIN.
