H1b visa stamping- Dropbox eligibility after changing employer

Hello All,

My H1b visa with previous employer stamped is valid until Jan 2020. I changed employer after that and got my H1b petition extended. I want to go to India for vacation and not sure if I require visa interview after employer change with valid visa. US visa appointments website asked a questionnaire and shows that I am eligible for dropbox. Could someone suggest if I am really eligible for dropbox or interview is required?

Even though you are eligible for drop box there are more chances that they might ask you to come for in-person interview. Now a days this is normal.

you don't need a new visa stamp. YOu can travel with the old stamping and new H1b. Show the new i797 approval on the POE when you return.

 

This travel has to be done before jan 2020

My current visa expired in Aug 2018 with previous
employer with stamping done in Hyderabad.I have an
approved H1B till March 2021 with new employer.

What are my options for visa stamping :

1.Am I eligible for dropbox in India ?

2.How mexico and canada consulates handle admin
processing (221g) cases means time it takes to respond
and availabilty of visa slots ?

Please share your experiences especially change of
employer

1. try to fill up the required forums online and they will show whether you are eligible or not. Even you are eligible they will ask you to come in-person.

2. Depends on the type of 221G case and seriousness the time varies. There is no certain timeline for this. Visa slots in Canada hard to get by but in Mexico you can get in few weeks.

My husband's H1B visa got extended to 2022. There was a change in employer this time. So the extended visa has a new employer.

Will he be eligible for dropbox in India?

Also, I am in H4 with EAD.  Will I be eligible for dropbox in India as well?
