Coming back to USA after project finished

Hello,

I'm on H1B(Valid thru March 2020). I'm working as a contractor at my client company. I am currently in India(visiting for 1.5 month). I just found out that my client has terminated my contract and gave a 2 week notice(Last day is Dec 14th) . But i'll be returning to US on Jan 1st 2019. 

Do you think this will become a problem at the port of entry? Please advise what can be done in this situation.

On H1, you are not a contractor. You are an employee of the company that filed the H1. Your employer sends you to clients, but i you anewe still his employee, and your employer is the one who pays you. It is in their interest to find a new project for you, because they ha e to pay you when you come back, even I'd they don't have a project for you (they could also lay you off before you return, of course.)
