H4 ( i539) and H4 EAD ( i765 ) concurrent filling

I recently got approval for H1B extension from my employer but could not file H4 extension and H4 EAD renewal along with H1B extension.

My wife’s H4 and H4EAD is good until December 2018 and she needs to go for her H4 (i539) and H4 EAD(i765) renewal.  As per USCIS site, it usually takes up to 5 months to process H4 and 5 Months to process H4 EAD in California service center.

I have a couple of questions –

1.       If I file them concurrently, will my processing time be 5 months (for i539) + 5 months (for i765) because i765 is adjudicate only after i539 approval? Or It will be 5 months only for both of them together?

2.       My other option is – She may re-enter US from Canada to get a new visa stamping and extended i94. Once we get new i94, we can apply i765. It may be 20 days (for Visa stamping and i94) and 5 months for 765.

Please suggest which one is a better option.

Usually both applications get approved together. So 3 to 6 months for approval both applications.
