Hi,

Iam planning to go for h1 stamping  in August ( Hyderabad Consulate) . My  current H1 is valid till oct 12th, 2018. My employer recently applied for extension and it got approved for next 3 years. My visa stamp expired long time back. When I go for stamping Iam going to use my extension approval copy which is valid till next 3 years. Will there be any issue for me  when I return to US which Iam planning to return in september as my current H1 is still valid till oct 12th? and if i get stamping done for my extension duration which is valid from oct12th to 2021 ? start date on I 797 matters? If i get stamped for my extension copy, should i have to return only after oct12th( which is start date on my extension approval copy)? or i can return before october as my visa is going to be expired 2021 as per new I797? Appreciate your help.

Thanks in advance.

Make sure you fill new I-797 details in DS-160. You can enter anytime. Visa stamp has a issue date, it does not have a start date.
