Travel to US on H-4 while employed in India

My wife works in US and I have a H-4 visa stamped in December. I haven't visited US on the H-4 yet as I'm not authorized to work there and I'm currently working in India. Can I visit my wife for 2-3 weeks on H4 visa by taking leave from my job in India? Are there any risks involved and what documents do I require while entering US?
