Ifhaam
I am currently working on on STEM OPT work status. My H1 application got picked in 2018 Apr. My STEM OPT expires in Jun 2019 I have planned a trip out of the states in the month of June through July 2018. Q) Can i travel in the above mentioned scenario? If yes, do i need any supporting documents? If yes, what supporting documents will i need? Any advise is appreciated. Link to comment
mehopeful
That is not advisable. Since in July, you will be on cap-gap extension status. You should either postpone your travel to after October or return before end of OPT (assuming you have valid F1 Visa). Link to comment
Ifhaam
The OPT expires next year which is June of 2019. My travel is from June 2018 to July 2018 which is almost one year before my OPT expires. Is it still not advised to travel? Link to comment
mehopeful
It will be better if you wait for the H1 change of status decision. But in the worst case, even if change of status is denied, you can continue on OPT. So it should be ok. Link to comment
pontevecchio
If you travel before the H1 petition is approved, you will need to get a H1 visa at the appropriate time assuming the petition were to be approved. Other than that depending on your home country, it should be all right to travel. Link to comment
