Psabhani
Hi, I am sure this has been addressed earlier, but I wanted to know if its okay to travel to Canada for first time H1b stamping ? I have my MS from the US and changed status from F1 to H1 in 2016. Also, any consulates in Canada preferred over others? I read somewhere some consulates in Canada don't do first time H1bs while some do. Thanks. Appreciate your help! Link to comment
care_candidate
I personally prefer would go to home country. The reason, if it is rejected or for any reason asked for more documents, you are in safe country with no time bound restriction. However, there is no problem in doing in Canada. There is not first time or repeat candidate rule. It is just case of stamping. Link to comment
xTDx
Some consulates wont accept change of status applications. Canadian consulate can outright deny to take your interview. However, a second h1b stamping wont be an issue in a third country unless there is a material change about the petition. Like a criminal record or an employer change etc. It is highly recommended to get it done in your home country. Link to comment
gopalakrishnach
Canadian consulate can outright deny to take your interview- I went to Vancouver for my first and I got it. I see few went to Toronto and Calgary. Maybe not all but few accepts. People normally go to India/Canada/Mexico. Link to comment
