H4 to F1 COS pending - H4 expired.

Hi,

I joined for masters in Spring 2017 on H4 status and applied for COS to F1 in June 2017. Meanwhile, my H4 expired in October 2017.

My school DSO suggested me to register full time in Spring 2018 even though my H4 expired and COS is still pending. As I have already completed two full time semesters, I would have only 3 credits left after Spring 2018. Would this affect my OPT?

My i-20 is now deferred to Spring 2018. As my H4 expired in October 2017, would there be any effect on the COS application?
