L2 dependent I-94 & Expiring in 10 days, what options are available ?

Myself, wife and children entered US (L1 & L2 visa valid until 2019) 6 months back and we didn't notice that  I-94 issued to her had expiry date end of July, due to her passport expiry. She just noticed it today from I-94 electronic record, as  until date was not mentioned in her admit stamping.

Whereas rest of us got  I-94 valid for 3 years(until 2019). She has applied for passport renewal with Indian embassy in Washington DC, but not sure whether we will receive new passport before I-94 expiry, given this situation can you please guide on options ahead of us. she mayn't be able to travel out of country as old passport is with embassy.

In case she receives new passport few days after I-94 expiry, can CBP-Deferred inspection unit amend the expired I-94 or she need to travel out of country to get the I-94.

Note: We have an infant and trying to avoid travel as much as possible.
