Hello,

I got GC 6 years back and my work with a contract firm (2 years) ended last year and  since last 1 year, studying in a state university to upgrade my skills.

3 years back i was laid off for short period and had unemployment for 2 months and took unemployment benefits and got a contract job for 2 years, that ended last year

Myself and my wife recently filed for citizenship  4 months back in january, we both had finger print in March, 2016, my wife got interview and she passed and got her citizenship and I didn't received any interview.

My wife does job and works for a good company.

I didn't received any query from USCIS, USCIS agent on telephone says, everything is normal.  No red flags.

So what might be the reason for my delay.  I appreciate any suggestions for me what to ask during Infopass.

Thanks for reply,

Recently I called 1 800 number for case status and agent say that, the case might be with National Processing center and the dates are not current, so he don't know how much time it takes.  I asked him whether can I get a letter from senator to fasten the process.  He told me that if the case is with national Processing center implies for security or background checks, so senator letter may not be useful and he asked me simply to wait.  He also said, because this is a election year, people want to vote, so every possibility of N-400 applications has increased.

I have an infopass appointment, don't know whether immigration officer can track my case.

For future reference, the 1-800 number is totally clueless and staffed by underpaid minions. By all means get an INFOPASS and ask. In this country the FEDERAL SENATORs are immensely powerful and an official Congressional enquiry is very useful. Everything else is just shadow boxing. Which state are you based in?

I strongly agree with ponte.

The person you talked to was obviously clueless. There is no PD for naturalization, once you qualify you qualify. There is nothing with "dates not current". That is complete BS.

And naturalization cases are not going to the National Processing Center.

All this stuff is GC-related. The people at that 1-800 number are only reading from their scripts, they don't know anything else.
