i94 Extension after Employer change

Hi,

 

I have my visa stamped until sep,2016(with old employer) and i have my i797 with My current Employer until june 2017

 

 

Recently in December,2015 i visited india and got my i94 until Jan 1,2017 as my passport is expiring on jan 1,2017

 

Now i have renewed my passport after coming to USA.

 

 

What are my options??

 

 

can i visit mexico border(not for stamping just cross the border and coming back) here in san diego,CA  after renewal of my passport with same old valid visa which expires sep 2016 along with current i797?

 

if we visit is there any problem?

 

or 

 

Can i file H1B extension 6months before? say dec ,2016 as my i 94 is expiring on jan 1,2017

You can do either. Since an extension is to be filed that will also do if applied before current I94 expiry. You have to let your company know.
