H1B _visa Stamping with I797 expiring in 2 months

Hi, 

I am planning to travel to India during mid of May 2017. My current I797 is approved till 17th Aug 2017 and my visa expired on July 2016. Below are my queries

1) Can I travel to India with this approved I797 valid till Aug 2017 and appear for stamping either in person /dropbox  with just 2 months left with my i797 expiry? 

2) Can I initiate my H1b extension and then travel with my receipt copy and valid I797 till Aug 2017 or come back and apply for H1b extension? Your advice please.

3) Is dropbox option is still available?

Please advice and appreciate your early response.

1) Yes you can travel and go for stamping. No issues.

2) Better to do it after you come back.
