H1B stamping for FT employees (Non - IT)

Hello,

 

I was curious to know what H1B stamping experience have folks had who are FT employees of their companies. I work for an advisory firm but it is non-IT and do not have one client that I work for (was hired by the company and work with various different assignments). The firm is fairly small (<50 ppl) and I am the only one on H1B.

 

I have been on H1B for a year and a half (first 3 years end in late 2017) and wanted to get the stamping done in Canada so I can travel abroad to nearby countries. I am a bit wary of going home due to expensive flight + but i wanted to know if going to Canada (such as Ottawa, Toronto) might be a reasonable option, or if it is actually a lot more risky doing that than going to the home country.  

 

Any advice/experience will be greatly appreciated.
