cancun2388@gmail.com
Hi, I currently work based on OPT and my wife went to DMV to extend the driver's license. They ask some document that she is a dependent of OPT. When I applied for OPT, I was told that my wife and son's status will automatically be changed and I don't need to worry about it. Did anyone have same issue before? and can you tell me how to solve this? What kind of document I can get to prove that my wife is my wife??? Link to comment
jairichi
Marriage certificate or copy of passport having spouse name in it. Link to comment
JoeF
OPT is not a status. It is part of the F1, so your wife would have to be in F2 status. Link to comment
rahul412
OPT is not a status, F1 is the status. Currently you are on F1 and your family on F2. Link to comment
Attorney_21
You need a "dependent" form I-20 from the DSO office at your school....This is not required for their status (which is automatic) but they need their own I-20 to return from travel outside the United States, or to apply for a license, generally. It functions as proof that they are in F-2 status. Link to comment
