Sid_OptExtension
I would like to go for visa stamping for my h1b extension and my current visa hasn’t expired yet. · New I - 797 Validity: Oct 1, 2014 to Sept 30, 2017 · Current Stamping Expires : Sept 30,2014. · This is my 6th year of H1B and the extension is based on of 1-140 for 7 , 8 and 9th H1B years. · The reason I want to go stamping before it expires because I am going to Canada for my wife stamping, thinking to get mine stamped as well. Questions: If I go for stamping now say April 1,2014, 1) Would I get new stamping in passport from April 1,2014 to Sept 30,2017 ? 2) Would I get new stamping in passport from Oct 1,2014 to Sept 30, 2017 ? If I get stamping from Oct 1,2014 then how would I come back to US as the current visa stamping will be cancelled right ? Link to comment

No. You could go not earlier than 90 days before your H1B start date. You need to go in July to get stamping till Sep 30, 2017. Link to comment

But you can go without the existing stamp being expired. (I did that for myself but I appeared to the interview 35 days before my existing stamp expired). As jairichi said above please confirm the allowed window. 2. ABSOLUTE NO!!! Link to comment

Do you mean I will not get from Oct 1, 2014 ? or Do you mean my current visa stamping will not be cancelled Link to comment
