221 G Chennai Consulate asking for I-140 approval

I’m in my sixth year of visa ending on Sep 23, 2011. Went for Visa interview at Chennai Consulate on May 23rd , 2011 and was given a 221G asking for I-140 approval since the visa was going to expire in three months.

My labor has been approved and employer had applied for I -140 through premium processing, however got a RFE asking for additional documents.

To avoid further delay, can I file for H1B extension using Labor and submit that H1B approval to the Consulate using the same case number (as the 221G) and submit the documents using drop box or will I have to book a new appointment for the H1B extension based on labor?

Any help/suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
