EAD - STEM EXTENSION & F-1 VISA EXPIRY

Hello All,

I received my new STEM EXTENSION EAD CARD. It is valid untill Oct 2014.

How ever my F-1 visa is valid untill July 2014. How does this affect the work eligibility/status when I reach that stage. I don't have H-1 yet.

Please reply. Any information is appreciated.

VISA is an entry document req to enter into US. It is req only at the POE.

You can work till your STEM OPT expiration date.

So now that this years H-1 quota is used up, I will have to wait till next April to look for an employer who can sponsor my H-1.

Yes. However, since your OPT-EXT EAD is valid until Oct, you need to worry only about not exceeding the 120 days of unemployment and the e-verify status of your employer.

Be sure to keep the DSO updated and make required address updates.
