H1B Transfer Question

Hi All,

I have a question about H1B transfer. I am working for company X. I about to get an offer from a company Y. I am planning to inform company X after H1B is approved for company Y.

Suppose for some reason I am not interested in taking up the job with Y, even though they have applied for the transfer and the transfer is successful can I continue to work for company X without my legal status being affected or should I only work for Company Y.

I would like to get this confusion sorted out. I will appreciate it if someone can shed some light on my question.
