If you continue to work past the expiration, your employment will be unauthorized. Now, the question you should ask is whether continuing is going to be harmful for you or your employer. Generally, unauthorized employment of up to 180 days won't impact your case. Your employer, though, should not be employing you without confirmation of your athorization because it is hard to claim they did not know you did not have authorization, since, technically, they know your expiration date. Do I think anyone will ever come after your employer over that? Absolutely not.
